This year s walking festival, which showcased 180 miles of glorious Monmouthshire countryside, has come to a close.. Despite some inclement Autumn weather, this did not dampen the spirits of walkers who came from all parts of Monmouthshire and beyond and were sustained by copious amounts of cake and steaming cups of tea! Over two thirds of tickets were sold with several walks sold out and one intrepid walker walked every day covering a distance of 118 miles.. Over the 10 days of the festival, ancient churches, chapels, castles and cider houses were visited.. Walkers were treated to a tour around Strawberry Cottage Wood, managed by Gwent Wildlife Trust, as well as finding secret World War II Resistance bases in Wentwood forest.. Views of unchanging and unspoilt landscapes were enjoyed throughout the county as well  ...   the best of walking in Monmouthshire in the years to come.. Follow us on..
