The Wisconsin Association of Community Oriented Police has developed an award to recognize outstanding problem solving efforts in Wisconsin.. This award is modeled after the Herman Goldstein Award, which is presented annually by the police executive research forum.. The Peel Award shares many of the same criteria but focuses on community policing efforts occurring in the State of Wisconsin.. We are seeking projects that have made a significant impact on the community they were implemented in.. A successful project may include the elimination of a neighborhood problem or it may have a broader scope such as the implementation of a landlord notification program.. Submissions should include some element of community partnership to be considered.. The Peel Award is named for Sir Robert Peel, who is considered the father of modern community policing.. Born in England in 1788, Peel obtained a parliamentary seat in 1809.. Rising crime statistics  ...   represents;.. "The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence" – Sir Robert Peel 1839.. The Peel award will be presented at the Annual WACOP conference in January.. The entry deadline is November 1, no exceptions.. One winner and two finalists will be named.. Submissions should be made in electronic format such as Microsoft Word.. Eligibility.. All employees of governmental agencies in Wisconsin who directly deliver police services to the public are eligible for the award.. Agencies may submit as many nominations as they wish.. The Peel award exists to recognize problem-oriented approaches to specific crime and disorder problems.. Submissions must address all four phases of the SARA problem-solving model..     Descriptive info: Superintendent Andrew Fisher has been a police officer in Merseyside for 29 years.. Andrew has a mixture of operational and departmental experience and currently heads the Citizen Focus Department.. This is a relatively new Department that is seeking to improve levels of satisfaction and confidence in the service provided by Merseyside Police.. Since leading the Department the team have won three prestigious national awards.. Andrew is a firearms incident commander and has been involved in policing a number of major events in Merseyside.. Andrew gained a first class BSc honours degree in police leadership and management 2008 and is currently studying part time for a doctorate in policing, security and community  ...   will conduct an in depth analysis of case studies of those who have converted to Islam and become extremist and extremists who have always been followers of Islam and have caused atrocities in the UK.. The current UK counter terrorist strategy will then be explored.. The second presentation will examine leadership in the police service.. It will look at various leadership styles, their impact and when they are appropriate.. The presentation will also examine the link between a leader and a follower and how this can be used to improve relationships and performance..
