Prior to submitting an application, you will want to gain a first hand experience of Tamarack by attending an Open House, an Information Evening, or taking a tour of our school and talking with our Enrollment Coordinator, Sarah Stokes.. The formal admissions process at Tamarack begins when interested families submit an application along with a $50 application fee.. (The fee is waived for Milwaukee Parental Choice Program participants.. ) Applications are accepted year-round.. After your application is received, you will be notified of an interview with the teacher.. For kindergarteners, the interview is done in a group format.. For students in grades 1-8, a request for school records will be made.. Upon receipt of school records, the teacher will call to set up an interview appointment.. Your son or daughter may visit the classroom before or after the interview.. Upon acceptance, the school Administrator will send a letter to your  ...   income documentation (a copy of 2012 federal tax forms) and Milwaukee residency documentation (typically a utility bill) along with the Choice application form.. It is recommended that new parents fill out these forms at the Tamarack office so that staff can review the documents with parents present to make sure all information is complete and accurate.. Tuition Assistance.. It is central to the vision of Tamarack that Waldorf Education be made available to all those who recognize its value.. Our goal is to create a diverse community that includes families with a wide variety of financial capacities, while remaining responsible to our economic obligations.. For families who do not qualify for the Choice Program, tuition assistance may be available..     Descriptive info: Tamarack Waldorf School, formerly Tamarack Community School, was founded by a dedicated group of parents and teachers in the summer of 1996.. In the fall of that year, our doors opened with two full kindergartens, a combined 1st and 2nd grade class, and a combined 3rd and 4th grade class.. It was of primary importance to the founders that Tamarack take part in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program so that tuition could be kept low and families from various economic circumstances could be part of the school.. The founding teachers had a strong connection to Anthroposophy and maintaining this connection has been an ongoing goal for the continuation of the  ...   expanding classes soon outgrew this space.. For four years, younger students remained at the original location while older classes were housed at a separate location.. Finally, in the 2002-03 school year, Tamarack came back together as a school at 1150 East Brady Street, in the St.. Hedwig's Church school building.. We graduated our first 8th grade class in May of 2001 and have continued to increase enrollment.. Since our founding, the faculty has grown to include a preschool teacher, three full-time kindergarten teachers, and eight full-time grade teachers.. We also employ specialists in the following subjects: handwork, Spanish, woodwinds, cello, violin, chorus, learning support, and Eurythmy (a form of movement)..
