Preliminary provincial reports prepared in joint CNIDAH/SAC project to provide provincial authorities with tool for mine action planning.. The Norwegian Peoples Aid field work in Uige is ongoing.. Santa Barbara Foundation will begin field work in Bengo Province in October.. INAD is continuing planning for Cabinda.. Somalia  ...   of Eastern Equatoria LIS to stakeholders in Khartoum.. In Eastern Equatoria state 43 of 400 communities are impacted; 83 SHAs and 28 recent victims identified.. Main landmine contamination located in Magwi, Torit and Kopoeta South counties.. Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) requests certification of the ELIS through the UN.. Preliminary Opinion Collection (POC) begins in Sanaag and Sool.. Khalil Rahman Faiez arrives in Hargeisa as SAC Database Officer for the LIS.. Mike Kendellen, Director for Survey, visits Hargeisa from 17-19 August.. Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) requests certification through  ...   Emmanuel Sauvage is in Hargeisa to plan for the POC, order equipment for survey and complete the MoU with the Somaliland Mine Action Center (SMAC) to conduct the survey in Sanaag and Sool regions.. Mines Advisory Group (MAG) continues the LIS in East Equatoria state.. Approximately half of all mine suspected communities have been visited.. The field work is scheduled for completion by the end of July.. Planning continues to conduct the survey in Blue Nile state beginning in September.. Benjamin Richardier and Amandine Rave arrive from France for an internship at SAC offices where they work on collecting global data on mine action..

A SAC team will work with the Somaliland Mine Action Center (SMAC) and the Puntland Mine Action Center (PMAC) to conduct the survey in these two regions.. Mines Advisory Group (MAG) has begun  ...   James Madison University.. SAC announces the departure of Finance Manager, Moe Aye, who has accepted employment elsewhere as an assistant controller.. Moe has been a mainstay at SAC over the past four years.. The SAC staff extends its sincere appreciation to her for all her dedication and fine work.. We will also miss her cheerful smile, her food selection at our favorite Burmese restaurant, and the periodic visits by her young son!.. SAC welcomes Madison Lawrence who is joining us on a part-time basis to bridge the gap left by Moe s departure.. We will introduce Madison on the SAC website in the near future.. SAC acknowledges the extraordinary achievements of Mary Wareham (Next Step Productions) and Brian Liu (Toolbox DC) with their film documentary Disarm on the landmine issue, which had its screening debut at the AFI Mid-Atlantic Regional Showcase Theatre, Silver Spring MD on 31 May..
