    Descriptive info: Jackson County Obituary Indexes.. Our RVGS volunteers have been clipping obituaries from the.. Ashland Daily Tidings.. , the.. Medford Mail Tribune.. , and the.. Upper Rogue Independent.. newspapers since 1953.. We also have bound and indexed collections of miscellaneous obituaries donated by our patrons from earlier years, but these are obviously not complete.. These "donated" obituaries were bound when a sufficient number were collected to make a volume, making overlap in year range inevitable.. Our library also includes many volumes of obituaries clipped from the.. Grant's Pass Courier.. newspaper from our neighboring Josephine County.. Our volunteers are currently indexing these volumes and these indexes will be put on our website as they are completed.. Obits.. to view these indexes.. Our library is beginning a new program to publish memorials and obituaries on our website.. The obituaries would take the same form as traditional newspaper obituaries, but would be perpetual.. These will be listed under the heading.. JCGL Obituaries.. below as they are produced.. Memorials are less formal and more personalized.. JCGL Memorials and Obituaries.. to learn more..     Descriptive info: Court Records.. JCGL holdings include several types of records concerned with Jackson County court actions:.. The first is a set of four volumes of abstracts of court records taken from the Oregon State Archives.. These include wills, probates, guardianships, and estate files.. We have prepared indexes for these four volumes.. Indexes to Abstracts of Wills, Probates, Estates, etc.. , to view these indexes.. The second type of holding consists of photographs of actual records contained in two Will Books.. We have prepared indexes for each of these two volumes as well.. These indexes include all names mentioned in the record aside from witnesses.. Thus they include testators, heirs, legatees, executors, debtors, etc.. Separate indexes have been prepared for witnesses mentioned in these two volumes.. Indexes to Will Book Images.. , to view the index.. The third type of record comprises two books of  ...   includes a circuit fee book for the years 1859-1862 and four circuit court fee books covering the years 1856-1890.. These fee books have little of genealogical value aside from placing an individual in the county at a particular time.. Court Fee Books.. The fifth type of record comprises digitized images of microfilmed Divorce and Criminal case files taken from the Jackson County Archives beginning in 1912.. The digitizing process is on-going, so more records will be added as they are completed.. Divorce/Criminal Files.. The sixth type of record is a five-volume set containing either Declaration of Intent forms for individuals intending to become naturalized citizens or information abstracted from those forms.. Our library holds actual copies of these forms for most of the names included in these volumes, and abstracted information for the remainder..     Descriptive info: Jackson County Cemetery/Death Records.. For many years, our RVGS volunteers have been collecting information on the deaths and/or burials that have occurred in Jackson County, Oregon.. The information was gathered from mortician records, donation land claims, diaries, death certificates, headstones and obituaries.. The information was put on cards for a cemetery/death card file.. The card file has been retired, but the online file currently contains more than 55,000 names.. Our volunteers are currently taking headstone photos and more names and photos are being added to the online database as they are completed.. The Cemetery/death File Data Entry Project and the Cemetery Photography Project are funded in part by the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.. The online database includes last name, first name, middle names (which may include maiden name), suffix, year of birth (if available), year of death (if available), cemetery (if known), source of the  ...   the individual's surname)..
