Contact us.. directly about volunteer opportunities!.. $500 Helps more than we have room to say!.. $250 Keeps our public food pantry open for one week which will help nearly 100 families.. $200 Provides five weeks of free counseling to a child who has been sexually assaulted.. $100 Helps a victim receive an order of protection, part of their safety plan.. $75 Brings a good touch/bad touch program to an area day care.. $50 Pays for one day of utilities at  ...   care and hygiene products for a week.. $5 Ensure that every child who comes to our shelter gets a welcome bag filled with books and a stuffed animal to make being away from home a littler easier.. $1 Buys a box of crayons for a child to draw pictures of how they might be feeling.. We are always in need of personal hygiene products (like soaps, shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste) and diapers.. Household items, clothing and furniture are accepted as well, to help make a new start for a mother and her children.. Adoption Commitment:.. a commitment to the room for a specific term, provide a fresh coat of paint and window treatments yearly, participate in "deep cleaning" of the room twice a year, decorate and create a home-like atmosphere.. (Call for availability when this day falls on a holiday.. ) Eligibility for the food pantry is based upon Illinois Department of Human Services income guidelines.. An individual or family can only access the QUANADA food pantry once every month.. A brief registration procedure is required when you arrive each time to pick up food..     Descriptive info: QUANADA operates an emergency shelter that is safe and secure for female domestic violence victims and their children.. Male victims are housed elsewhere temporarily.. The purpose of the shelter is to provide victims with a safe place to stay while fleeing an abuser.. A service plan will be developed with each resident.. This plan includes a list of goals that will be addressed by the resident while living in shelter.. The shelter stay can last up to 45 days.. One moment, you may desperately want to get away, and the next, you may want to hang on to the relationship.. Maybe you even blame yourself for the abuse or feel weak and embarrassed because you ve stuck around in spite of it.. Don t be trapped by confusion, guilt, or self-blame.. The only thing that matters is your safety.. QUANADA is here to help you with a 24-hour hotline, counseling, shelter, legal and medical advocacy and educational services.. You do NOT have to stay at the shelter to use counseling or other services.. You Have The Right To.. Determine whether to report the crime to the police.. Ask for a female police officer if you choose to report.. Locate an attorney to represent you.. (The prosecutor is not your attorney..  ...   toilet or clean up in any way.. You could destroy evidence.. Do not change or destroy clothing.. Your clothes are evidence.. If the assault occurs in your home, do not rearrange and/or clean up anything..
