Jim Indelicato had spent a lifetime taking care of his health and teaching others to do the same.. When he suffered a brainstem stroke on September 16, 2010, at the age of 59, he was left with left sided weakness, debilitating vertigo and balance issues, inability to trigger a single swallow and serious respiratory problems.. Jim had just retired after 40 years of serving in the military as a Chief Master Sergeant, in charge of 1,600 soldiers physical fitness training.. He was 32-time marathon runner.. Due to his remarkable health, personal strength and help from family and friends, he is making an incredible recovery.. On his 62nd birthday, he participated in The Rehabilitation Institute of St.. Louis s Stampede for Stroke walk.. He walked one mile without ... holds the title of the world s fastest man after he ran a 100-yard dash in nine seconds in 1974.. Though Jim has suffered a serious brainstem stroke for which no one has ever been able to find a cause, every day he makes the choice to try to the best of his ability to do better than the day before.. His daily example reminds everyone around him to do the same.. His family believes it was because of his amazing physical health and the mental strength he developed through countless runs and the many years in the military that he has and continues to survive the most difficult race of all: the aftermath of this stroke.. What Zack needed was a costly piece of equipment called a ransom rest, a gun, an accessible shooting range, a hospital rolling table, two 35-pound dumbbells and staff who were willing to take the extra time to make this work.. While Paraquad supplied the rolling table and the dumbbells, in ... Range, just down the road from Paraquad on Manchester RoadHis Dream.. Owner Jim Stephens generously provided his own personal ransom rest, firearm and one-on-one instruction to Zack.. During the session, Jim closed the back range so that Zack could get up close and personal with the target, get set up, take aim and achieve a dream..
