  • Title: Oasis Community Learning | Attainment
Descriptive info: ».. » Attainment.. Attainment.. There has been a significant rise in the number of students achieving higher grades and the improvement over the last two years far exceeds the national average.. There are a number of particular success stories amongst the 15 secondary Academies which Oasis runs.. For example, Oasis Academy Shirley Park has doubled the percentage of students achieving 5 A*-C including English and Maths since it opened in September 2009.. Oasis Academies John Williams and Lord’s Hill have more than doubled their percentage since they opened in September 2008.. Oasis Academy Mayfield increased their results by 20% compared to last year.. Undoubtedly our most significant achievement is that, across the group, Oasis has achieved a 15% improvement in the percentage of students attaining 5 A*-C including English and Maths over the period of two years 2009 to 2011 and a 28% increase in the number of students achieving 5 or more higher grade GCSEs.. Personal achievement.. All Oasis Academies provide personalised learning for their students.. This enables those with specific areas of talent such as sport or art to make the most of their skills whilst still maintaining a high academic record.. Some significant achievements have been:.. Oasis Academy Mayfield indoor five-a-side football team made it to the National Finals, one of only eight teams out of 1100 in the country to do so.. A student from Oasis Academy Shirley Park made  ...   Championships this year.. A student from Oasis Academy Brightstowe became the IBA Judo Champion.. A student from Oasis Academy MediaCityUK qualified for the British Swimming Championships.. Attendance.. Students in Oasis Academies are attending school more and rates of truancy and unauthorised absence are reducing.. In most of our Academies the attendance rate is noticeably higher than it was in the predecessor schools.. Behaviour.. Behaviour in all of our Academies has undergone significant improvement.. Increased emphasis on pastoral care and support has enabled students with challenging circumstances to receive the support that they need to thrive.. In the community surrounding Oasis Academy Enfield, local crime rates have dropped by over 30% and the Local Authority and police force attribute this directly to the Oasis Youth Work provision.. Ofsted.. During the academic year 2010-11, eleven out of our, then, twelve Oasis Academies received Ofsted inspections.. Five Academies received Section 8 monitoring visits and six had full Section 5 inspections.. Of the Section 5 Inspections, two were classified as being "Satisfactory with good capacity to improve", and three were classified as "Good" by Ofsted.. Oasis Community Learning is pleased that all inspectors noted the strong capacity within the Oasis Academies for further improvement.. Oasis Community Learning is proud that all have been shown to be cultivating positive attitudes to learning, seeing great improvements in behaviour and to be building strong and positive relationships between staff and students..
