House Bill 93 - Outdoor Warning Sirens.. No activity since last update.. House Bill 93 was introduced on January 8th by Representatives K.. King of Mercer County and R.. Bunch of Whitley County and sent to the Veterans, Military Affairs, Public Safety committee on January 9th.. It will create a new section of KRC Chapter 39B to establish guidelines for activating outdoor warning siren systems to alert the public of severe weather conditions; require training of persons involved in activating the sirens; and require annual reporting of siren activity.. here.. The sirens in Kentucky come in all shapes and sizes based on the community's need at the time of acquisition.. Few, if any, are designed to run constantly for extended durations as would be required by this bill.. To require officials activating sirens have appropriate training is an unfair assessment of our public safety professionals who undergo numerous hours of annual training.. The annual reporting of siren activity will create an administrative burden at the local level with no significant justification of need for this data at the state.. KEMA's official stance is that House Bill 93 creates unnecessary work for agencies involved with the maintenance and operation of outdoor warning siren systems.. Please contact your representatives and tell them you oppose House Bill 93..
