Judge Carden is from Cedartown, Georgia, but has lived in Hall County since 1978.. She received her law degree from the Lumpkin Law School, University of Georgia in 1975.. She received a BA in History and Political Science with honors from Georgia College (now Georgia College and State University) in 1972.. She was the Outstanding History Major in 1972.. Judge Carden became a part time associate judge of the Hall County Juvenile Court in 1997, and served in that capacity until 2004 when she was appointed as a full time Juvenile Court Judge for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit.. Prior to becoming judge, she served as an attorney with Georgia Legal Services first in Savannah area and then in Gainesville area for ten (10) years.. Later she spent twelve (12) years in private practice with the firm of Deal and Jarrard, which during her tenure, merged with another firm to become Carey, Jarrard and Walker.. While serving as part time juvenile judge, Judge Carden maintained a private practice largely limited to Mediation.. Judge Carden is a former President of the Gainesville Northeastern Circuit Bar Association (1992-1993).. She also was awarded the Judge A.. R.. Kenyon Award by the Bar Association in 2005, recognizing her commitment to the integrity of the legal profession.. She is a member of the Council of Juvenile Court Judges serving as Chair of the Mental Health, Developmental Disability and Addictive Disease Committee, and she is a member of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.. During his tenure, he managed operating budgets of more than $65 million and capital projects ranging from $40,000 to $150 million.. With more than 33 years experience in the water and wastewater field, he has held positions as manager of the water and wastewater division of a medium-sized consulting firm in south Florida, design/build manager for an international construction firm based in Alabama and superintendent of water and wastewater construction projects throughout the southeast..
