Descriptive info: Thimun.. 7th Annual Thimun Singapore -2011.. 14th Nov -20th Nov.. The history of Model United Nations dates back to the 1920 s.. Today, with its growing popularity, there are 400 MUN conferences held worldwide which attract an ever growing number of participants.. THIMUN stands as a gateway for High school students to enter the broad spectrum of MUN conferences since its establishment in 1981.. This year, the theme of the conference was Crime and Punishment and had over 964 delegates from 74 schools participating in the 4 day conference.. Every November, students at Dhirubhai Ambani International School get ready to converge at Singapore for the much awaited Thimun Conference.. The destination is the Hwa Chong institution, Singapore.. This year, excitement reached new heights as our delegation was given France as their country; in addition, 2 students were allotted the Security Council.. So, with a delegation of 11 students and 2 MUN directors, everyone was to make a mark as  ...   than negative ones as we tend to do a lot of negative debates back home- the debates here were very constructive.. I got a taste of what real MUN is like.. Better to be aggressive during lobbying.. If you come well prepared, you get to sleep.. In the MUN activity club, we should have simulated lobbying and even more research- oriented discussions.. Come prepared not only with resolutions but also with speeches.. Committees followed timings very rigidly so more resolutions got discussed as debates on any one topic did not drag.. The native speakers of English really impressed us with their fluency and the tone of their speeches and debates was very low- pitched and official rather than dramatized- we want to emulate that as we like their approach.. We were very well- prepared and compared favourably with many of the other delegates.. I realized that committees here are much bigger.. Hence it is more difficult to get recognized..
