Why Donations are Important.. Capital Area District Libraries actively develops and uses supplemental funding sources to help finance enhanced collections, new technologies, expanded or renovated facilities, enriched library programming and innovative demonstration projects.. These supplemental funding sources include: individual or corporate gifts given directly to the library; funds from local library trusts, foundations or endowments; funds raised by Library Friends; and grant awards from state and federal governments or private foundations.. Although supplemental funding may play a key role in supporting library services it cannot replace public funds which support basic public library service.. Capital Area District Libraries welcomes gifts of money, securities, library materials, equipment, furnishings, services, and other items that assist in the provision of library service to the community in accordance with the..     Descriptive info: Your CADL Card.. A CADL card is the key to unlocking valuable library services, including public computers, WiFi, eBook downloads and a large collection of books, movies, music and more.. Cards are free to children and adults who live in our service area.. Businesses and institutions are also eligible.. Anyone living outside our service area may purchase a card for an annual fee.. Review a list.. of cities and townships that are included, and those not included, in CADL's service area.. With a current, valid library card, you may check out items, download digital books, and use public computers at any CADL branch.. For residents:.. Apply in person at any CADL branch.. A current photo ID and proof of address are required.. Cards are good for four years from their date of issue.. For non-residents:.. A fee of $50 (for one person) or $75 (for one adult and any children under 18 for whom that adults is the parent or legal guardian).. These purchases are non-refundable.. Non-resident cards are good for one year from their date of issue.. Using Your Card.. Use your CADL card to check out or renew library items.. Up to 50 items may be checked out at one time on one card, with these limits:.. no more than 10 DVDs/videos.. no more than 10 music CDs/cassettes..  ...   use any computer, or Internet-enabled device, to place holds catalog items, cancel holds, renew items, pay library fees and more.. access the public computers and Internet service available at CADL Branches.. access CADL's.. specialized databases.. Getting Library Messages.. When you apply for a library card, you will be asked how you'd like to receive messages or alerts—by phone or by email.. You will be contacted when:.. Items you've placed on hold are ready for pick up.. Items you've checked out are almost due.. Items you've checked out are overdue.. In addition to your primary method, you may also choose to get.. text alerts.. You don't need a smartphone—just a cell phone that can accept text messages.. Cardholder Responsibilities.. When you apply for a library card for yourself or a child, you agree to be financially responsible for anything checked out on that card, including overdue fines.. Allowing others to use your card is done at your own risk.. Treat your card as carefully and securely as you would a credit card.. for your own safety, never allow someone else to use your card to access a library computer, and never use someone else's card to do so.. You are responsible for providing CADL with current contact information (address, phone number, email address) so that we can notify you of any issues..
