Included among them will be ISRRT s prestigious Hutchinson lecturer and the CAMRT s Welch lecturer.. Hutchinson Lecture.. Professor Scott Bowman, vice-chancellor and president of CQUniversity in Australia, will give the 2012 Hutchinson Lecture.. His lecture, The journey of a radiographer and of radiography, will chart how a radiographer becomes a Vice Chancellor of a university, and how radiography has transformed as a profession.. He will focus on the human angle, that is, how the future of radiography depends on the radiographer/patient interaction rather than the radiographer/machine interaction.. Mr.. Bowman has a distinguished career in academia.. After studying radiography at the Northampton School of Radiography in the UK, he worked as a senior radiographer in several London hospitals.. He later became a student teacher at Guys Hospital Radiography Education Centre and later became a principal lecturer at South Bank University.. He advanced to become head of the Department of Radiography and Imaging Sciences at the University College of St.. Martin where he was also appointed the foundation Dean of the Faculty of Health Science and Community before he moved to Australia.. In Australia, Professor Bowman served as head of the School of Medical Radiations at Charles Stuart University, and subsequently became the foundation Head of the School of Clinical Sciences.. He moved to the University of South Australia where he was appointed dean of the Whyalla Campus and the foundation director of Regional Engagement.. It offers an advanced curriculum, given over two days.. A voluntary certification exam is offered at the end of the course and upon passing the exam allows physicians to add the credential of Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) to their name and technologists to add the credential of Certified Densitometry Technologist (CDT).. This course will enable the attendee to identify advances in the diagnosis and management of common endocrine conditions.. Attendees will appraise the applications of DXA technology, its limitations and pitfalls, and evaluate and monitor fracture risk.. Participants will also be able to interpret the clinical utility of bone densitometry and describe the x-ray science, radiation safety and quality assurance of this modality.. Volunteering provides many opportunities and benefits including:.. Networking with peers and colleagues studying or working in the profession from around the world.. Attending plenary and concurrent sessions and exhibits and meeting with presenters and vendors.. Volunteer assignments may include, but are not limited to the following:.. Delegate kit preparation (Wed.. June 6).. Pre-Congress workshops (Thurs.. June 7).. Room monitors.. Registration desk.. Hospitality/information desk.. Guides for local site tours.. Administrative support to CAMRT staff.. Communications support to CAMRT Staff.. Complimentary Access to the Congress.. We welcome and are grateful for all volunteers regardless of how little or how much time you can devote to the Congress.. However, in order to receive complimentary registration for the Congress, you must volunteer for a minimum of  ...   If you choose to be a room monitor, you will be asked to scan delegate badges at the start and end of each session, but you are able to sit in on the assigned sessions..
