Descriptive info: Cooking Matters - Host.. Are you a nonprofit, community center, social service agency, school, food pantry, or other organization interested in hosting Cooking Matters classes?.. Our host partners provide space for classes (we don’t require a full kitchen – just running water!) and recruit participants for classes.. A staff member from the host agency should be on-site during classes.. We also love it when host site staff help shop for classes, and teach classes when appropriate.. To apply to host classes, please fill out our.. online form.. FAQ’s about hosting a Cooking Matters class:.. 1) Is there a cost to the host agency or participants?.. No.. If you have money in your budget to help cover some of our costs, please let us know! We work with many organizations who can help cover the costs of classes and many who cannot, and do not decide to work with new partners based on funding.. Please contact us for more information about sharing costs.. There is no cost to participants to attend Cooking Matters classes.. 2) Do we have to have a kitchen?.. We ask  ...   does 18 Reasons provide?.. We provide all food, cooking equipment, and curriculum materials for participants and instructors.. We also provide trained volunteer instructors and a staff coordinator for each series.. 4) Do you provide classes in other languages?.. Yes, our adult and family classes are taught in either English and Spanish.. Each class is taught by a volunteer chef, nutritionist, and class assistant.. We have many Spanish-speaking volunteers and are always trying to recruit more.. We tend to conduct classes in just one language – having a translator has proven to be a bit difficult for these types of classes in the past.. Unfortunately we do have the capacity to provide classes in other languages ourselves – but we are happy to work with sites who can provide instructors or translators who speak other languages.. 5) How many sessions is the curriculum and how long is each session?.. Classes meet once a week, for six weeks, and are two hours long.. Volunteers arrive half an hour ahead of time to prep and stay about half an hour after the class ends to clean up..
